Providing No Cost Education, Training and Employment Services to Youth and Adults

The mission of Center for Career Alternatives (CCA) is to provide the highest quality education, employment, training and career development services; leading to individual self-sufficiency and self-worth for a culturally diverse population of disadvantaged youth and adults.

Alan Alan Sugiyama established Center for Career Alternatives (CCA) in 1979 for three very simple reasons. He wanted an agency in the community that was multi-ethnic, focused on employment and training, and would target individuals who were most in need of CCA's services.

I am pleased and excited to become the second Executive Director of the Center for Career Alternatives (CCA).  Our agency has maintained its "can do" spirit in the midst of a challenging economy.   This summer has brought many changes to the agency.  After thirty years of exceptional leadership, Alan Sugiyama, takes on a new role with the agency after stepping down from his post as Executive Director.  We are thrilled that he will serve in his new role as Founding Executive Director.  In this position, he is still giving his time to CCA as an advocate for development and advancement of the agency.  Several newspaper articles have been published about Al's recent decision:

To meet the challenges brought about by the economy's impact on the labor market, we, like other organizations had to look critically at our staffing levels.  Unfortunately, there had to be dramatic and deep cuts made in the Seattle and Everett programs to ensure that the agency could maintain its services and be fiscally responsible.  As we move forward, we have confidence that the agency will continue to provide superior services and sound fiscal practices.

We thank you, the supporters of CCA, who over the years have been there to help and support our events-- and cheered for our clients and CCA team.  I look forward to working with you knowing that our Board of Directors and staff will work hard to continue the legacy of excellence.   Thirty years of great service, community support, and team spirit will continue on.

 Regards,

Peter Tsai
Executive Director
